How do you show love in your family?

Every family shows love to each other in different ways. Do you know your love language? I know that “love language” is a popular term but I don’t really think knowing is important for raising kids. Below are some ways that kids feel loved and you don’t even need to buy a book to try them. Kids watch everything we do, so our actions are something we need to think about as we spend time with them daily.

1. Saying “I love you.” You would be surprised how many people have a hard time verbalizing this to their children. If this is you, you might want to think about why.

2. Listen to them. Put the phone down and pay attention to what they are saying to you. If you don’t listen when they are little they won’t want to talk to you as they turn into teenagers.

3. Have fun with them! Find activities that they like to do with you. Ask them? You might be surprised what they might want to do.

4. Don’t buy stuff randomly for them, stick to birthdays and holidays. Continually buying toys or stuff for them is not showing you love them, it is just adding clutter to your home.
